A simple random sampling approach was applied to obtain the data set. The classical sleeping classification model and the mean approach are applied to analyze the data set and to determine the average sleeping hours of the population investigated. The analysis showed that young adult sleep less than eight hours due to social media interaction whereas matured adult account for approximately seven hours. Although, the analysis on the average sleeping hours for some classifications tends towards normal sleeping duration and the analysis also revealed that some categories of people though occupation dependent observed less than eight hours. The analysis based on the overall average lean towards short and long sleeping hours. The analysis showed that the people interviewed in this study have sleep debt as well as sleep surplus.
