Abstract

Production and cultivation of horticulture crops is considered to be of very high importance. They help in promotion of commercial activities for rural sector. Various factors are responsible for induction of flowering like bud age, tree vigor and environmental conditions (water stress or prevailing temperatures) are generally linked with the flower induction process. Water stress indirectly obstructs cell division and elongation process by disturbing translocation of cytokines from roots through inductive processes. Various kinds of cytokinins are observed in higher plants viz. dihydrozeatin, trans zeatin, isopentenyl adenine including their ribosides. Thus, this review will address the main factors controlling flowering in horticulture crops.
